Six national champions in Sheffield!

Six champions from the Jersey Special Gymnastics Club Six champions from the Jersey Special Gymnastics Club

Jersey Special Gymnastics Club came away from the 2017 Special Olympics GB Nationals at the iceSheffield Arena with no fewer then six national champions, eight of them in second or third place, and two in fourth overall.

 

Here is the roll of honour:

 

Men Level 4

Champion: Alex Buesnel

2nd: James Lang

4th: Aaron Bonnar

 

Men Level 3:

Champion: Matthew Kirkland

3rd: Ryan Blandin

 

Men Level 2:

Champion: Jack Pearl

 

Men Level 1:

Champion: Leandro Loreto

4th: Ryan Barras 

 

Ladies Level 4:

2nd: Cailiegh Quail

 

Ladies Level 2:

Champion: Jessica Vieira

2nd: Sinead Laverty

3rd: Rachel Christie

 

Ladies Level 2 - 2nd Division:

1st Eloise Clyde-Smith

 

Ladies Level 1:

Champion: Alexandra Wheatley

2nd: Ella Davidson

 

Head coach Yana Vibert was full of praise for her Jersey Special Gymnastics Club squad. "It was a great competition," she said. "All our gymnasts did extremely well with five of them getting selected by the judges to perform their routines in the closing ceremony."

 

Earlier in the week, the opening ceremony took place at Sheffield Utd's Bramall Lane stadium. Sadly, it was very, very wet, but all the squad seemed to enjoy themselves...........
